WLFD FAST responds to Westwood |

At approx. 5:41am on Wednesday, February 26th, the Woodcliff Lake Fire Department FAST was requested into the Borough of Westwood for the fully involved house fire. Chief 710, Deputy 7 and Rescue 7 with (OIC 713) responded. Upon Rescue 7's arrival, the crew set up across the street and began a 360 of the fire building. As the crew completed their 360, 6 firefighters became trapped on the front porch when the porch roof collapsed to top of them. The WLFD FAST went to work along with members from Westwood, Hillsdale and Emerson to work to free the trapped firefighters. All firefighters were removed within a couple mins with only minor injuries. All trapped firefighters were transported to HUMC for further evaluation and released with in a few hours. WLFD was released from the scene at approx. 8am. Cause and origin being handled by the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office Arson Squad, Bergen County Sheriffs Department and Westwood Fire Marshall.
